Rock Hill, South Carolina
The Lowenstein Building is part of the University Center at Knowledge Park in Rock Hill, South Carolina (often simply called “The Park”). The Park in total is an approximately 1.3 million–square–foot “revival” of the old 23-acre Bleachery site into a $200 million mixed-use development. It will include retail, restaurant, office and residential space — as well as a civic venue. The Park will also provide a walkable live-work-play environment where offices are surrounded by dining, entertainment, shopping, and housing.
The five-story Lowenstein Building, built in stages from 1939 to 1954, is one of the last remaining structures from the original textile plant, which operated from 1929 to 1998. After renovations, the Lowenstein Building will consist of approximately 225,000 square feet of “Class A” office space, but plans also include an upscale restaurant, and a potential multi-purpose venue to attract various indoor sporting events.
